The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Sierra Leone has imposed financial penalties and a three-year ban from public office on two officials of the Sierra Leone Immigration Department following a Non-Prosecution Agreement.

The ACC, in a press release, announced that Alpha Brima Timbo and Clifford Bola Thomas, both staff members of the Immigration Department’s Intelligence and Investigations Unit, were found guilty of misappropriating funds intended for the issuance of residence permits.

The two officials failed to deliver payments received for five residence permits, amounting to Thirty Thousand Leones (Le 30,000).

Following an investigation, the ACC recovered the full misappropriated amount from Timbo and Thomas, plus an additional 20% interest, bringing the total repayment to Thirty-Six Thousand Leones (Le 36,000).

In addition to the financial recovery, the ACC has imposed a three-year ban on both officials, precluding them from holding any public office in Sierra Leone, effective immediately.

The Immigration Department has been instructed to dismiss them from their positions.
