The High Court of Sierra Leone Holden in Bo, presided over by the Honourable Justice Anthony Ganda has, on Friday 3rd February, 2023, sentenced Mustapha Senesie, a former District Supervisor at the Ministry of Agriculture in Bo and of Gendema Village, Sahn Section, Bumpeh Gao Chiefdom, Bo District, to pay a fine of Le 50,000,000 or serve five years imprisonment following his conviction on one ount of corruption offence.
Mustapha Senesie was standing trial on one (1) count of Misappropriation of Public Property, contrary to Section 36(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 12 of 2008.
The Honourable Justice Anthony Ganda further ordered that, the convict should pay the fine of Le 50,000,000 immediately, or serve the five-year jail term.
It could be recalled that, on 8th April, 2019, the Anti-Corruption Commission filed in an indictment relating to the misappropriation of thirty (30) bags of fertilizer being property allocated to the people of Gendema Village, Sahn Section, Bumpeh Gao Chiefdom, Bo District under the Diversity Food Production Project (DFPP) by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security (MAFFS).
The Commission reassured the general public of its firm commitment to curbing corruption at all levels in Sierra Leone, and further advised all Public Officers who are in control of Public Resources to comply with laid down laws and procedures in the use and management of same.
