The Commissioner of the Sierra Leone Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Francis Ben Kaifala, announced a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into financial misconduct at Eastern Technical University (ETU). The Assistant Finance Officer, Sheku Abdulai Kamara, had made a full confession to the effect indicted on 26 counts for the misappropriation of public funds.
According to Commissioner Kaifala, Kamara had made full confession to the effect. kamara orchestrated a scheme that involved diverting Seventy-Five Million, One Hundred and Sixty-Seven Thousand (Old) Leones (Le75,167,000 received from Twenty-One (21) Students as tuition fees for the Eastern Technical University, for his personal use, without proper documentation in the university’s accounts. The indictment encompasses a range of charges, reflecting the extensive nature of the financial misconduct.
Kaifala emphasized, “Eastern Technical University (ETU) Financial Officer indicted on 26 Counts for Misappropriation of Public Funds. He ran a scheme whereby money collected from students were applied for his personal use and not reflected in University accounts. He had made full confession to the effect.”
Commissioner Kaifala emphasized the severity of the charges, stating that Sheku Abdulai Kamara had confessed to his involvement in the scheme. The confession is expected to play a crucial role in the legal proceedings against Kamara.

This same university(ETU-SL) is in the habit of requesting money from Sierra Leone Grant-In-Aid (SLG) and also other charges on the ordinary students.
ACC should look into that as well.
And they said all those students should pay that amount before the start to pay any other fees. Hope the commissioner should speak on behalf of the students
