The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has pledged its unwavering commitment to thoroughly examine and address the key issues highlighted in the recently released 2023 Auditor General’s Report.

In a press release issued on December 20, 2024, the ACC welcomed the tabling of the report in Parliament by the Audit Service Sierra Leone, emphasizing the importance of ensuring accountability for state resources.

The Commissioner of the ACC, Francis Ben Kaifala Esq., assured the public of the Commission’s dedication to scrutinizing all major issues raised in the report.

“Let me assure the public of the Commission’s firm commitment to ensuring that all the major issues highlighted in the Report are adequately looked into due to the enormous importance we attach to the Auditor General’s Report,” Kaifala stated.

The ACC announced its intention to release periodic updates through serialized media reports, detailing the progress of its interventions. These updates will cover investigations, prosecutions, convictions, recoveries, prevention measures, and where appropriate, exoneration of individuals and institutions.

Acknowledging Parliament’s constitutional role in handling the Auditor General’s Report, the ACC expressed its readiness to collaborate with lawmakers to ensure accountability and transparency in public institutions.

The Commission also reaffirmed its partnership with the Audit Service Sierra Leone, committing to address issues of concern without fear or favor.

The ACC concluded by reassuring citizens of its steadfast determination to protect state resources and uphold good governance principles.
