The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has reminded public officers required by law to declare their income, assets and liabilities to comply with the 2026 Asset Declaration Exercise before the July 20 deadline.

In a public notice issued on June 29, the Commission urged all eligible public officers who have not yet submitted their declarations to do so without delay through its online Asset Declaration Portal.

According to the ACC, the asset declaration requirement is provided for under Section 119(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2008, as amended in 2019. The law applies to public officers in Grade 7 and above, elected public officials, presidential appointees and officers entrusted with fiduciary or financial responsibilities, among others.

The Commission emphasised that asset declaration remains a key transparency and accountability measure designed to promote integrity in public service and strengthen the fight against corruption.

The ACC further warned that failure to submit declarations within the stipulated period, or the deliberate submission of false, inaccurate or misleading information, constitutes a breach of the Anti-Corruption Act.

It noted that Section 122A(1) of the Act provides for administrative sanctions and other penalties against non-compliant public officers, including the withholding of salaries where applicable.

The Commission advised all affected public officers to complete the process through its online Asset Declaration Portal before the July 20 deadline to avoid sanctions.

The ACC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting transparency, accountability and compliance with the country’s anti-corruption laws, urging all public officers to fulfil their legal obligations within the prescribed timeframe.
