The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has cleared the administration of the University of Sierra Leone of corruption allegations following an investigation into administrative, financial, and procurement activities between 2021 and 2023.
In its May 2026 report titled “Investigation into Administrative, Financial and Procurement Irregularities at the University of Sierra Leone (2021–2023),” the ACC stated that no evidence of corruption or wrongdoing was found against officials who were the subject of the probe.
Those cleared include Prof. Foday Sahr, Prof. Mohamed Samai, Mrs. Olive Kash Barrie, Mrs. Waltina B. Mackay, and Mrs. Betty Brima Boima.
The Commission said its review covered allegations relating to administrative decisions, financial management, and procurement processes during the period under investigation.
It concluded that the officials involved were not found culpable of any corruption or irregularities.

The findings are expected to end months of public debate and speculation over the conduct of the university’s leadership, bringing renewed attention to governance and accountability within Sierra Leone’s higher education sector.
The report has been welcomed by supporters of the administration, who say the outcome restores confidence in the leadership of the University of Sierra Leone.
