The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has warned public officers who fail to declare their assets that they could face salary withholding, suspension and eventual dismissal from office.
ACC Coordinator of Operations Patrick Sandi issued the warning during the government weekly press conference on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the Miatta Civic Conference Centre in Freetown.
Sandi said the 2026 asset declaration portal is scheduled to close on August 31, after which the Commission will begin enforcement action against defaulters.
He explained that defaulting officers will first receive a notice giving them 14 days to comply. Continued failure to declare could result in the withholding of their salaries for one month.
According to Sandi, the sanction could extend for up to three months, after which an officer who remains in default could be dismissed from office in accordance with the applicable legal provisions.
He noted, however, that different procedures may apply to officials serving in positions with statutory tenure.
Sandi said in such cases, the Commission would advise the relevant authorities, including the Human Resource Management Office and the Accountant General, to take appropriate action regarding the officers’ salaries.
The ACC Coordinator said the Commission is determined to enforce the deadline and will not reopen the portal after its closure.
