The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is set to auction a large residential property in Bo City after investigations classified it as unexplained wealth, according to the Commissioner of the ACC, Dr. Francis Ben Kaifala.

Dr. Kaifala made the disclosure while speaking on the Commission’s ongoing fight against corruption and asset recovery. He stated that the property, described as a “mighty house,” is located about 500 yards from Dohas Hotel in Bo, along the main road leading to Njala University Campus.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will be auctioning this mighty house in Bo City too, soon,” Dr. Kaifala said. He explained that the house is part of properties recovered under the ACC’s unexplained wealth regime, which allows the state to seize assets that cannot be lawfully accounted for by their owners.

According to the Commissioner, the property is not yet fully completed. He noted that the eventual buyer would be responsible for finishing the building.

Alternatively, he said the ACC is considering completing the construction itself and converting the facility into a public children’s hospital for the benefit of residents in Bo and surrounding communities.

The person that will buy it will finish building it, or we complete the construction and serve as Children’s Hospital,” Dr. Kaifala stated.

The ACC has, in recent years, intensified efforts to recover properties and assets believed to have been acquired through corrupt practices.

Dr. Kaifala said the planned auction reflects the Commission’s commitment to ensuring that such assets are either returned to public use or disposed of transparently in accordance with the law.

He emphasized that proceeds from the sale of recovered properties are meant to support national development and public welfare, while also serving as a deterrent to corruption.

The Commission is expected to provide further details on the auction process, including timelines and conditions of sale, in due course.
