Tragedy struck Regent Road via Hill Station today as a dumper truck lost control due to brake failure near Old School, causing a series of collisions along the route.
The incident, which took place in front of “Child Fund,” resulted in severe injuries to two children and one man.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck, unable to halt its momentum, began hitting traffic along the road, leading to the devastating injuries.
This incident comes in the wake of a similar accident late last year on the same road, where two children lost their lives, and another child and her mother sustained injuries.
The community members expressed shock and dismay at the recurrence of such accidents, particularly as they had actively advocated for preventive measures. Calls for the installation of speed bumps between Old School and the junction of ChildFund office/Martilie School had been made to address the speeding issues along this stretch of the road.
Local residents are disheartened by the repeated accidents in the area and hope that immediate measures will be taken to prevent such tragedies in the future.
This is not about speed humps but lack of vehicle exterminers for brakes mirror etc. Such vehicle must be reatricted if not in good order..
