As part of their ongoing corruption investigation into activities of the ruling government, the Africanist Press has revealed five transactions transferred between 27 May 2022 and 18 July 2022 to various Sierra Leone embassies for President Maada Bio’s travel expenditure and other expenses.

Chernor Bah of the Africanist Press made the revelation on a social media post earlier today.

“This is a sample of five transactions transferred between 27 May 2022 and 18 July 2022 to various Sierra Leone embassies in the name of President Maada Bio’s travel expenditure either as payment of special imprest, hotels, and logistics,” he stated.

“This doesn’t include cash withdrawn by the President and delegation members as travel per diems ahead of these trips. In this sample list, the cumulative amount is US$144,382,30. Question is: what has the opposition MPs done about this continuous looting of the national treasury in the guise of international travel by the President?” Bah added.
