The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Hinga Sandy and the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Abubakarr Karim, together with their delegation have arrived in Dakar, Senegal to participate the Dakar 2 Summit on the topic: “Feeding Africa: Food Sovereignty and Resilience Aims to Turn Advocacy efforts into concrete action.”
According to reports from the Sierra Leone Embassy in Dakar, the three-day Summit will be held at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center in Diamniado, outside Dakar from January 25th to 27th.
The Summit is to be hosted by the Senegalese President, Macky Sal who is also the African Union President and co-hosted by the African Development Bank Group.
The Dakar 2 Summit seeks to bring together governments, private sector leaders, representatives from multilateral organizations and NGOs, as well as scientists and researchers to explore measures to meet the escalating challenge of food security in Africa and strengthen the continent’s resilience to future shocks.
The Ministers of Agriculture and Finance, Central Bank Governors in Africa, and other high-level government officials are expected to partake in a roundtable on scaling technologies for African Agricultural Transformation in which they are to introduce new technological systems and practices, combined with traditional knowledge and techniques.
