The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Sierra Leone has appointed Musa Mewa to be the first ever Sierra Leonean Head of Mission.

Mewa, a lawyer by trade, has served the Mission diligently over the years and is going to take over from Saeedu Rahman who has served the mission for 28 years.

The new head of mission, while on visit to the President, expressed his appreciation to the people of Sierra Leone and the president for accepting them in being part of development of Islam, health and education.

Mewa said that the Mission has been engaged in missionary work while developing the human capital and empowering locals. He added that his presentation to the president by the Jamaat is an important one that signifies that they have a good relationship with the government.

President Bio in his response, appreciated the work of the Mission in their 100 years of existence in the country. He commended the appointment of Lawyer Mewa while praising his leadership skills. He added that the selection of Mewa is that of a divine decision and advised him to pray for more wisdom in his tenure.

The Mission, which has been in Sierra Leone for over 100 years now have over 100 schools, hospitals, a missionary training college and a printing press among other things.
