Air Sierra Leone has announced a postponement of the launch of its highly anticipated Freetown-London Gatwick route.
The airline had planned to open bookings for the new service on October 18, 2024 but cited technical issues as the reason for the delay.
In a press release, Air Sierra Leone apologized for the inconvenience caused to customers and emphasized its commitment to providing excellent service. The airline’s team is reportedly working to resolve the technical problems as quickly as possible.
“We understand the importance of this route to our valued customers and appreciate your patience as we address these matters,” the statement read. “Air Sierra Leone remains dedicated to delivering on our promise of world-class service, and we will provide updates as soon as possible.”
The airline encouraged customers to visit its website for further information and assistance.
This delay comes as a disappointment to travelers who were looking forward to the new route, which promises to enhance connectivity between Sierra Leone and the United Kingdom. Air Sierra Leone has not yet announced a new date for the opening of bookings.
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 they have done it again.
Technical issues arising before even take off of the maiden flight? The challenge here is convincing as many passengers as possible to board Air Sierra Leone planes. You could appeal all day long to Sierra Leoneans’s sense of patriotism. At the end of the day, it is all about safety, stupid.
It goes to show that there was no preparation!!! How do you expect us to trust this so called airline!
Sorry to say we Sierra Leoneans are not stupid or gullible. Why not operate in Nigeria???
There are always teething problems when starting venture like this.
A lot of us had experienced this , even with well established corporations.
We hope that these problems will be resolved and we will be on the air soon.
Let us give these people our support and be optimistic.
Let us, Sierra Leoneans ,stop this negativity, it is not helping our country.
A big shame
A big lie. That’s the promise they made to us about the commencement of a railroad and ended up disappointing the people. Guys if u don’t know now u know that it’s the end of year lie. There’s no guarantee that they bought it. The question we should be asking them is, where, when and how did they get the money from to buy it? Which company they bought it from? What is the cost of the plane? How can the ordinary people get tickets? This is what we should be asking them.
What exactly are the “technical issues”? It may be financial rather mechanical or even appropriately trained crew.
People will want to know ‘cos safety is the primary consideration of almost any traveller and not patriotism.
To all Sierra Leoneans, let us come together with optimism and a shared commitment to our country’s growth and success. Every small positive effort, every supportive word, and every constructive action can contribute to Sierra Leone’s development. Let’s set aside negativity and build a spirit of hope, resilience, and unity. Together, we can create a brighter future for our beloved nation.
Oh dear, not good when there’s already so much scepticism already! It’s a shame as a direct, safe and reliable flight to Freetown is what a lot of people in the UK Diaspora hope for.
Let’s be patient and continue to pray for our nation to develop. This is a huge step. May every every issue with planning be destroy in Jesus Name. Congratulations.
