Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, the newly elected Mayor of Freetown, extended her heartfelt appreciation to the people of Sierra Leone following her swearing-in ceremony today.
In a touching message, she expressed her commitment to serve for a second term, highlighting the recently signed Agreement for National Unity and the end of the APC’s non-participation in governance.
Aki-Sawyerr stated, “I took the oath of office today and I am pleased and humbled to serve for a second term as the Mayor of Freetown.”
The swearing-in ceremony was a significant event overseen by the Minister of Local Government and attended by the Deputy Mayor and APC Councillors.
The Mayor was joined by some of the Freetown City Council members and loyal supporters as they proceeded to the APC Party Office and then to the Freetown City Council. Later in the evening, she shared precious moments with her family, parents, sister, and close friends.
In her message, Aki-Sawyerr expressed her gratitude to God, her family, and all those who have supported her throughout her journey. She concluded with a heartfelt wish, “May God bless Freetown and bless my service to our city in this second term. Transform Freetown 5 More years To Do More.”
As she embarks on her second term, Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr remains dedicated to the continued development and betterment of Freetown, in line with her vision to “Transform Freetown.”
