Freetown’s re-elected Mayor, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, proudly announced the remarkable achievement of her son, Jordan Aki-Sawyerr, who recently obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in SHES (Social Sciences, Humanities, and Environmental Sciences) from a prestigious university in the United Kingdom.
Overwhelmed with joy, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr took to social media to share her emotions and express her gratitude to God for her son’s success.
“Congratulations to Jordan Aki-Sawyerr BSc SHES!! My heart is bursting with joy and I give thanks to God! Jordan was just 14 years old when I volunteered to support the Ebola Response in 2014 and travelled to Freetown,” she posted.
Reflecting on their journey, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr reminisced about the time she volunteered to support the Ebola Response in 2014 when Jordan was only 14 years old.
Originally planning to be away for a brief period of three months, little did they know that her commitment to serving the community would lead her to run for the mayoral office and remain in Freetown.
Despite the physical distance, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr marveled at how her son had blossomed into an exceptional young man, showcasing talent, hard work, compassion, and resilience.
Acknowledging the challenges of being apart from her son, the mayor credited the grace of God for keeping them connected, no matter where their individual paths took them.
Mayor Aki-Sawyerr extended her heartfelt congratulations to Jordan, emphasizing the divine intervention that made his academic success possible.
“Graduation day yesterday was simply amazing because God did it!! Well done Jordan!!” she concluded.
