His Excellency Ambassador Alhaji Brima Elvis Koroma, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Algeria, paid a courtesy visit to Ambassador Abdelhafid Hachem, Algerian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, at the Chancery Building on Spur Road, Freetown.

Ambassador Hachem expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations. He urged both nations to work closely together for their mutual benefit.

Highlighting the upcoming 4th Intra-African Trade and Investment Forum (4–10 September 2025, Algiers), Ambassador Hachem encouraged Sierra Leone to ensure its delegation registers via the forum link and actively participates in the high-level interministerial meeting on 5 September, as well as the subsequent round-table conference to showcase Sierra Leone’s economic potential.

Furthermore, Ambassador Hachem called for the fast-tracking of proposals and their implementation. He also revealed that a visa-free entry agreement for diplomatic and service passport holders from both countries is being pursued to ease mobility and cooperation.

In addition, Hachem emphasized the importance of academic excellence in the allocation of Algerian scholarships, particularly in the fields of medicine, engineering, and technology.

In response, Ambassador Koroma, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s commitment to deepening cooperation. He stressed the importance of advancing the JCC and finalizing the visa-free entry initiative, noting their potential to benefit citizens of both nations. He further appealed for the expansion of scholarship opportunities for Sierra Leonean students, while acknowledging the initial scholarships already awarded.

Also Separately, Ambassador Koroma held discussions with Mr. Mohammed Mubashir Massaquoi, Director General of the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA), on facilitating access to the National Identity Card for Sierra Leonean citizens abroad. He commended Mr. Massaquoi’s leadership and pledged continued embassy support.
