Sierra Leone’s Supreme Court Judge, Honourable Justice Fatmatta Bintu Alhadi, has been elected as the Gender Representative for West Africa to the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges’ Association (CMJA).
According to the Judiciary of Sierra Leone, Justice Alhadi’s election marks a significant milestone for Sierra Leone on the international legal stage and reflects the continued progress of the Chief Justice’s policy on gender equality and empowerment within the Judiciary.
Further adding that in this prestigious international role, Justice Alhadi was recently appointed Chairperson of the General Legal Council (GLC) by the Honourable Chief Justice. The GLC plays a critical role in regulating the conduct and professionalism of legal practitioners across the country.
“Congratulations to Honourable Justice Fatmatta Bintu Alhadi on her well-deserved victory,” said Chief Justice Komba Kamanda. “Her achievement is a proud moment for the judiciary and for Sierra Leone.”
In her remarks, Justice Alhadi expressed gratitude to the Chief Justice for his visionary leadership and for creating opportunities for Sierra Leonean judges to represent the nation on global platforms.
