Sierra Leone’s Presidential Spokesman, Dr. Alhaji Alpha Kanu, has strongly rejected claims made by Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden and senior members of the All People’s Congress (APC) party that Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh lobbied for a position within the former APC-led government under President Ernest Bai Koroma.

Dr. Kanu, in a statement issued recently, described the allegations as entirely false, asserting that at no point in time did Dr. Sengeh seek any job or political appointment from the APC government.

Let me make it clear that at no time did Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh seek a job or appointment from former President Ernest Bai Koroma or the APC government,” Dr. Kanu emphasized.

He further clarified that his initial interaction with Dr. Sengeh had no political motivations. According to Dr. Kanu, their first meeting occurred during an academic engagement at Harvard University, a platform that was entirely unrelated to political lobbying.

“The claims being made are misleading and should be disregarded. Dr. Sengeh’s career trajectory has been shaped by his academic excellence and dedication to public service, not by political connections or lobbying,” Dr. Kanu added.

The remarks come amid ongoing political debate over Dr. Sengeh’s professional background and public service record. These exchanges have intensified with opposition figures questioning the Chief Minister’s rise to his current position within the government.

Dr. Sengeh, who has been a central figure in the current government, has been praised for his contributions to public policy and youth development in Sierra Leone. His critics, however, continue to focus on his professional history, particularly regarding his affiliations during the APC administration.

Dr. Kanu’s comments aim to put to rest what he describes as baseless claims surrounding Dr. Sengeh’s career. The presidential spokesman urged the public to dismiss the allegations, reiterating that Dr. Sengeh’s success has been built on his qualifications and service to the nation rather than any political lobbying.
