Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Lansana Gberie has joined others to welcome the newly appointed Director General of the United Nations Migration, Amy Pope.
H.E Ambassador Gberie welcomed Amy Pope as the first woman Director General of the UN Migration and as chair of the International Organization on Migration (IOM) governing body.
Ambassador Gberie also signed Pope’s appointment contract on behalf of the IOM.
He maintained that he is excited to continue working with the team for a safe and orderly human migration.
Amy Pope maintained that the meeting was a productive one with the UN Migration Council Bureau as their collective efforts will enable the protection of vulnerable communities that are displaced by climate change, natural hazards, diseases, economic strife, and war.
