Ing Andrew Keili, the proposed Chairman for the Electricity Distribution Supply Authority (EDSA), has highlighted significant issues within the organization, asserting that EDSA is not in good shape.

Speaking to journalists following his appearance before the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments on Monday, August 5, Keili emphasized the critical need for improvements in the sector, which he described as vital for everyone.

Keili detailed that the current status of EDSA necessitates substantial reforms, which he intends to spearhead pending Parliamentary approval. He underscored the importance of the government providing policy guidelines while the board focuses on oversight concerning administrative, fiduciary, and corporate governance matters.

In response to questions about his appointment not leading to a grilling by the committee, Keili stated he was uncertain about the committee’s decision. He added that despite his new role, he remains committed to his writing endeavors, including his “Ponder My Thoughts” column.

Keili, who has an extensive background in the electricity sector, including consultancies on recent projects such as the MCC initiative and Sierra Leone’s energy policy, believes his experience will be instrumental in addressing EDSA’s challenges.
