In a fiery statement today, Chernor Maju Bah, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the main opposition party, All People’s Congress (APC), launched a scathing attack on the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) Western Area Commissioner, accusing her of bias and a deliberate attempt to deprive citizens of their rights during the country’s elections.

Addressing the media after casting his vote, Bah confidently proclaimed, “I cast my vote for change, and judging by the turnout in our stronghold as compared to SLPP’s, this is a first ballot win for Samura Kamara and the APC.”

He further expressed his dismay over the late arrival of ballot boxes, labeling it as an embarrassment to the ECSL and democratic institutions in the country.

This is something we have been talking about all along, and that’s why we have been calling for the voters’ register to come out for people to go out and verify,” Bah continued.

He accused the ECSL of deliberately withholding the voters’ register until the last minute, with the intention of depriving citizens of their rights. He drew parallels to the 2007 elections when a similar tactic was employed by the ECSL, resulting in their loss. He confidently stated, “They have tried it again, and they are going to lose for the second time.”

Bah emphasized the significance of the voters’ turnout, suggesting that it would make it impossible for the ECSL or anyone else to tamper with the election results. “The people’s voice should be the final judgment,” he declared.

Pointing fingers directly at the ECSL Commissioner for the Western Area, he accused her of assuming office with malice and a deliberate agenda against the APC.

He cited the difficulties faced by voters during the registration process in the Western Area as evidence of bias and mistreatment.

They punished us to register, yet we still registered. They punish us to vote, we will still vote, and our votes will be counted,” Bah defiantly proclaimed.

While expressing concern, he reassured his supporters that the APC would emerge victorious in the election, asserting, “We know that we are going to win the election. We know that the votes will be counted. We know that the majority of voters will vote for Samura Kamara and the APC.”
