The National Chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hon. Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, has called for reconciliation and unity within the party to ensure progress and effective leadership.

Addressing party members during a peace tour in Kono over the weekend, Mansaray emphasized the need to prioritize competence and inclusivity over internal divisions.

Highlighting Kono’s historical importance to the APC, Mansaray recalled its contributions to the party since 1967 and appealed to members to put aside factional ambitions that threaten unity. Using the metaphor of a vehicle, he underscored the urgency of addressing leadership issues within the party.

“If we have a reckless driver who is unable to drive our vehicle, we must stop that reckless driver and find a competent one,” he stated, stressing the need for capable and committed leadership to steer the party forward. Mansaray’s remarks were seen as a call to action for party members to confront ineffective leadership decisively and embrace a unified vision for the APC.

The chairman also condemned the recognition of individual factions, asserting that “the APC must operate as one unified team. We should all see ourselves as one team, Team APC.” He urged members to adopt an open-door policy that fosters inclusivity and welcomes diverse perspectives.

As part of efforts to strengthen the party’s regional presence, Mansaray announced plans for constructing a new APC office in the southern region, describing it as a vital step toward growth. He also called for a review of the party’s structure to accommodate dynamic and energetic young members, ensuring the APC remains robust and relevant.

Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya, the APC’s National Secretary General, also addressed the gathering, echoing the chairman’s sentiments. He appealed for reconciliation and a collective commitment to reshaping Sierra Leone’s political and social landscape.

The peace tour in Kono marked a significant step toward addressing internal divisions, with Mansaray calling on all members to prioritize the party’s mission of progress and unity.
