The All People’s Congress (APC), Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, has declared that Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, its 2023 presidential candidate, is no longer the leader of the party.
The announcement was made by APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Sidi Yayah Tunis, during a broadcast on AYV Television’s Wake Up Sierra Leone show.
Tunis cited Section 47 of the APC Constitution to justify the party’s decision, though specific details on the section’s provisions were not elaborated upon during the announcement. Dr. Kamara, who contested in the June 2023 elections against President Julius Maada Bio, has been a prominent figure within the APC for several years.
The APC’s decision has sparked widespread speculation about the party’s leadership and future direction, as Dr. Kamara remains a significant figure in Sierra Leonean politics. Further clarifications from the party are expected in the coming days.

Without Dr samura mathew wilson kamara,no Apc, and even if they remove him from Apc we would still vote for him, because he is God fearing man.

It is in Sierra Leone’s and SL APC Party’s best interests for Dr. Kamara to leave APC’s Party Leadership immediately and gracefully. The remanent party leadership needs to appoint an INTERIM LEADER to sustain continuities of management and administration, the phasing out of management and administrative anomalies,; particularly the election of the departed Samura Kamara’s successor who will not be contesting for leadership and will exclude all past leaders.
