The National Chairman of the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC), Hon. Minkailu Mansaray has called for unity, reconciliation, and a renewed focus on the party’s’ collective mission.
He mad this call over the weekend while delivering a keynote address at a Fundraising Dinner organized by the APC Southern Region Executive.
He also called on all members to prioritize competence and inclusivity over the current division in the party hierarchy.
Hon. Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, National Chairman, during the event delivered a powerful and thought-provoking address by drawing on the metaphor of a vehicle to explain the present internal situation within the party, stressed that progress requires capable leadership. “If we have a reckless driver who is unable to drive our vehicle, we must stop that reckless driver and find a competent one,” he declared, underscoring the necessity of ensuring that the party is directed by individuals who are both capable and committed to the APC’s goals. He further explained that if the person responsible for steering the vehicle is reckless and incapable, he/she must be replaced.
This statement served as a warning against tolerating ineffective leadership in the party, while also signalling the importance of addressing internal challenges with decisiveness.
While expressing disappointment over the recognition of individual factions during the event, the APC Chairman Minkailu Mansaray firmly stated that “the APC must operate as one unified team we should all see ourselves as one team, Team APC.” He admonished members to put aside ambitions that will divide the party, emphasizing that while aspirations are natural, they must lign with the broader vision of progress and unity. He appealed to members to embrace an open-door policy that welcomes all voices and perspectives, creating an inclusive environment where the party can thrive.
Furthermore, the APC Chairman outlined plans for constructing a new party office in the southern region, a project he described as vital for the APC’s continued growth and regional presence. He also called for a review of the party’s functions to reflect its dynamism and encourage the inclusion of young and energetic members. Importantly, he urged the party to heal the wounds caused by internal divisions and refocus on the collective mission of changing Sierra Leone’s social and political land- scape.
In addition, the National Secretary General of the APC Party, Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya delivered a profound and timely call for unity, urging party supporters to prioritize the collective interests of the APC over personal ambitions in the Flagbearer race. He expressed concern that the growing focus on individual campaigns had shifted attention away from the party’s core mission of strengthening its relevance and influence in the national political arena. The Secretary General reminded supporters that the APC is one family, bound by shared values and a common vision for Sierra Leone’s progress.
He cautioned against internal rivalries and factionalism, warning that such divisions only serve to weaken the party and distract from its ultimate goals. “We are all APC, and we cannot afford to act as if we are divided or enemies,” he stated.
He stressed that as an opposition party with aspirations to govern, the APC cannot afford to be seen as fractured or distracted by internal rifts. Instead, it must present itself as a disciplined, serious, and capable alternative to the current leadership.
