In a press release, the Secretary General of the All Peoples Congress (APC) says following the court order that they should clarify and settle all membership problem within 14 days, they have said that all returning members will have their membership cleared during the next delegates’ conference.

The release states that the High Court of Sierra Leone in the Order of the Honourable Justice A. Fisher J. on the 19th day of April, 2021 ordered inter alia at paragraph 66 (2), that the Party should “deal with any unresolved membership issues”.

The Court Order on the 1st December, 2021 that the Party should within 14 days of the Order provide a roadmap on how it intends to deal with any unresolved membership issues;

And Whereas the National Advisory Committee (NAC) of the Party met on the 11th of December, 2021; they have resolved as follows:

For those who have submitted new applications for membership to the Party and whose applications are still being processed; acknowledging that the delay has been due to technical problems with printing, coupled with the volume of applications made the Party shall cause the Secretariat to speedily take a decision on them and have their membership cards printed. Subscription cards signed and issued by the National Secretary General shall also suffice as proof of membership.

According to Awoko News, the release states that for those applicants who have left or resigned from the Party or were expelled and have since applied to be readmitted; their readmission shall be considered at the next National Delegates Conference (NDC) in line with the provisions of the Constitution in force at the time of the conference;

Anyone who has unresolved membership issue outside paragraphs 1 and 2 above, should bring such issue to the attention of the National Secretary General (NSG) in writing and such shall be considered at the next NDC or in line with the existing constitution (whichever is applicable);

Finally, the release says unresolved membership issues shall constitute a ‘special agenda item’ at the next National Delegates’ Conference.

The Secretary General averred that they are anxiously waiting on the court to bring an end to the matter in court as well as resolving the new constitution as they have prepared and answered all documents to PPRC so that they can resolve the constitution matter so that the party will start preparing for the lower-level elections that will take them to the National Delegates’ Conference.
