One of the opposition All Peoples Congress’ (APC’) representatives in the just concluded Tripartite Committee on Electoral Reforms and Management Bodies Review, Dr. Richard Konteh has confessed that he did sign the Tripartite Committee report.

Dr. Konteh expressed dissatisfaction over the way and manner in which the party leadership dealt with the entire processes and the manner in which the final report was presented. According to him, the final document did not accurately reflect the critical views of the general APC membership.

Dr. Richard Konteh made this disclosure during an online interview, Dr. stated that his refusal to sign the final report has raised serious concern, adding that the process did not meet the expectations of the APC members and supporters who were pensively hoping to see light at the end of the dark, long tunnel.

He bemoaned the leadership of the party for failing to properly and adequately handle post-elections negotiations process with the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the International Community.

The former APC flagbearer aspirant further stated that most of the concerns raised by the grassroots APC members regarding issues of irregularities in the past elections were not adequately addressed in the final Tripartite Committee report, adding that he was surprised to realize that the final report only dealt with fairness of the June 2023 general elections and legitimacy of the current Julius Maada Bio led administration.

He concluded by saying that for sanity to be restored in the party, continued dialogue must be centre stage, as, according to him, that would help, a great deal, in addressing the current animosity and fracases within the party structure.

He warned that if the internal division within the party is not nipped in the bud, the chances of APC reclaiming State House in 2028, remains remote.
