The Recently resigned BBC reporter, Hassan Arouni, has sent a peaceful message to Sierra Leoneans ahead of the June 24th 2023 general multi-tier elections.

He informed of his health condition which he said was a major one, noting that he now feels much better after having gone through the necessary surgery.

He wrote:

“For quite a while this year it felt like hospital appointments every week, including general anesthetic ah. Then I would be back at work like all was normal. It wasn’t.  I have been dealing with a major health issue. I have now undergone what the surgeon said was a very complicated procedure. I thank God. I kept it very quiet except for a few people I trusted, but it was not an easy time for me with many other things going on. I am saying all this now because so many have wondered, and because of what have been happening. I am so sorry about that. I really wanted to go to Sierra Leone to watch the election process. I can’t, sadly”

Despite all the struggles he is in at the moment battling with some illness, he sent best wishes to the people of Sierra Leone on their election.

He said, “. Still, I pray that God will bless our country and our people. I pray for peace and progress in Sierra Leone. I pray that God will give us love for one another and for our country. God bless we sweet sweet Salone.”
