Media Personality, Mrs. Asmaa James was applauded for her contributions to women’s issues and journalism during an interview session, by members of the Appointment and Public Service Committee of Sierra Leone Parliament as she transitions into her new diplomatic role.
Madam James was appointed by President Julius Maada Bio to serve as Deputy Ambassador to Brussels, Belgium, giving her a transitional journey from journalism to diplomacy.
Colleague media lawmakers praised Madam James for her long-standing presence in the field and wished her success in her new role, emphasizing the importance of women empowerment in media.
In her statement, Hon. Katherine Zainab Tarawally commended Madam James, noting their shared efforts in Women in the Media initiative and their work with both WIMSAL and SLAJ.
Hon. Veronica K. Sesay expressed confidence in Madam James abilities, urging her to represent the women of Sierra Leone with distinction. Lawmakers acknowledged the significant shift from journalism to diplomacy, highlighting the need for prudence and raining in her new role.
