The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) has released official dates for the induction ceremonies of newly approved members across the country. In a public notice signed by Alhaji Manika Kamara, the National Secretary General, SLAJ outlined the schedule for the induction ceremonies, which will be held from the 9th to the 12th of September 2024.
The induction will commence in the Western Area on the 9th of September at SLAJ Headquarters, located at 56 Campbell Street in Freetown. The event is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM.
Following this, the ceremony will move to the Northern Region on the 10th of September, where it will be held at the SLAJ North Regional Office, situated at 18 Teko Road in Makeni City, Bombali District. The induction will again start at 9:00 AM.
On the 11th of September, the Southern Region will host its induction at the SLAJ South Regional Office at 18 Prince William Street, Bo City, in the Bo District. Members are expected to attend promptly at 9:00 AM.
The induction ceremonies will conclude in the Eastern Region on the 12th of September at the SLBC Kenema Office on Maxwell Khobe Street, Kenema City, Kenema District. As with the other regions, the ceremony is set to begin at 9:00 AM.
The induction of new members represents an important moment for SLAJ as it brings in fresh talent to contribute to the dynamic field of journalism in Sierra Leone. SLAJ remains committed to upholding high professional standards and ensuring the freedom of the press in the country.
