Austria has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Sierra Leone’s path to justice by contributing €45,000 to the Residual Special Court for Sierra Leone (RSCSL) in 2024.
The European nation has been a longstanding supporter of the court, which was established to prosecute those responsible for the atrocities committed during the country’s brutal civil war.
The RSCSL is currently focused on completing the work of its predecessor, the Special Court for Sierra Leone, including managing the court’s archives and protecting witnesses.
In a statement, the Austrian government emphasized its belief in ending impunity, promoting justice for victims, and strengthening the rule of law both in Sierra Leone and globally.
The contribution underscores Austria’s dedication to these principles and its solidarity with the people of Sierra Leone.
