Authorities at the Freetown Water Quay have reportedly seized four 20-foot containers carrying a total of 461 cartons of Tramadol in a major drug interception operation, officials confirmed.
The shipment, which has been linked to a Guinean national, was intercepted by the Sierra Leone Ports & Harbor Authority and subsequently handed over to the Sierra Leone Police and the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) for further investigation.
According to reports, the consignment was allegedly brought into the country by the Guinean suspect, whose identity has not yet been disclosed by authorities.

One individual has already been taken into custody in connection with the case. The suspect, identified as the driver who arrived to transport the shipment from the quay, was arrested at the scene.
Head of Operations at Water Quay, Brima Kannneh, confirmed the development, stating that investigations are ongoing. He did not provide further details on the origin of the shipment or whether additional suspects are being pursued.
The seizure highlights ongoing efforts by security agencies to clamp down on the trafficking of controlled substances through Sierra Leone’s ports. Authorities say the case remains under active investigation as they work to determine the full network behind the shipment.
