The Sierra Leone National Commission on Small Arms (SLENCSA), in collaboration with the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, is set to undertake a demolition exercise of 7,769 unserviceable high explosives and incineration of 622,879 small arms ammunition.
According to a public announcement issued by the commission, the transportation of explosives will start from the 24th February to 7th March 2023.
The announcement further confirmed that the demolition exercise commences from 13th March to 31st March 2023 at the following Controlled Demolition Sites (CDS) in Gondama, Daru, Kambia, Kabala and Armed Forces Training Centre (AFTC) Benguema.
The Commission encouraged all persons residing in GONDAMA, DARU, KAMBIA, KABALA, AFTC, BENGUEMA and their environs to be calm and to continue with their normal activities as their safety is of utmost concern to the Commission.
