The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Berny’s Hope Foundation and BSK Television Network, Dr. Bernadette Sanko Kamara has discovered a huge level of embezzlement of Project Funds and misused of Farming Tractors upon arrival to Sierra Leone.

Her visit to Sierra Leone from the United States of America was on the verge to oversee various projects aimed at assisting the less privileged in Sierra Leone and see how she can build and develop on more hope and help for the needy.

In contrary, her visit was marred by instances of discouragement and dishonesty, as she uncovered alarming cases of embezzlement of project funds and misuse of working equipment by some dishonest and selfish few individuals The visit, which was intended to further the foundation mission of empowering communities and creating positive change, turns out to be a frustrating moment for an individual who just wants to ensure the well-being of the people in her little efforts.

It was revealed that, the construction of a mosque in one of the rural communities in Marampa Chiefdom, a project funded by Berny’s Hope Foundation to support the religious needs of the community, was met with disappointment as it was discovered that a substantial portion of the funds had been squandered. This breach of trust not only affected the beneficiaries of the project but also tarnished the reputation of Berny’s Hope Foundation in the eyes of the local community. Another project that was affected by dishonesty and selfishness was the microcredit program for less privileged women in Sierra Leone. Funds that were intended to support women in starting small businesses or improving their livelihoods were misappropriated by unscrupulous individuals. This setback not only deprived these women of much-needed support but also hindered their economic empowerment and financial independence.

In addition to the mismanagement of funds, there was also evidence of the misuse of equipment provided by Berny’s Hope Foundation. Farming tractors that were donated to local farmers for agricultural purposes were reportedly used for personal gain by some individuals who were entrusted with the management responsibility.

This not only hindered the productivity and efficiency of the farmers but also undermined the sustainability of the agricultural projects supported by the foundation. Such an act of mismanagement has spilled a negative effect and jeopardizes the livelihoods of countless farmers and agricultural workers. In a similar vein, the mismanagement of resources earmarked for cow rearing painted a grim picture of exploitation and dishonesty by the caretaker. The diversion of such resources deprives communities of much-needed support and perpetuates cycles of poverty and dependency.

It was noted that, with all the discouraging situations, she remains determined to continue her efforts to support the less privileged in Sierra Leone, as she has expressed total committment to ensuring that the resources and funds entrusted to the foundation are used effectively and transparently to benefit those in need.
