Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio, has expressed his appreciation for the 2024 Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Scorecard upon receiving the official copy from the United States Ambassador, Bryan Hunt.

President Bio stated that the MCC Scorecard awarded Sierra Leone its 5th consecutive pass mark since 2018 underscores his Government’s commitment to reducing poverty through growth.

He said the independent MCC Scorecard indicators showcase the Government’s demonstrated commitment to investments in the people, just and democratic governance, and anti-corruption.

“While we appreciate our Government’s tireless efforts towards poverty reduction and promoting sustainable economic growth as highlighted in the MCC Scorecard, we acknowledge the urgency in tackling other equally important segments of development that are yet to fully reflect the wishes and aspirations of our people”.

President Bio assured his government committed to enhancing partnership with the United States to spur inclusive economic growth through an ecosystem of policies and reforms that foster democracy, increase economic freedom, and promote investments in human capital development to improve the quality of lives of citizens.
