Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has arrived in Accra, Ghana, ahead of the inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama, scheduled for Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

President Bio joins a host of fellow Heads of State and international dignitaries who have traveled to Ghana to witness Mahama’s return to office.

Mahama, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), secured victory in the presidential election with 56.55% of the vote, defeating Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 41.6%.

Bawumia conceded defeat prior to the official announcement of the final results, setting the stage for a smooth transition of power. Mahama’s inauguration marks the beginning of his second term as President of Ghana, following his initial tenure from 2012 to 2017.

The ceremony, to be held in Accra, is expected to attract widespread attention, symbolizing Ghana’s commitment to democratic principles and peaceful electoral transitions.
