Sierra Leone’s president, Julius Maada Bio has celebrated the important role that the nation’s youth are playing in driving the country forward. 

In a post shared on social media in commemoration of International Youth Day, President Bio expressed his immense pride and hope for the future of Sierra Leone.

He recognized the youth as torchbearers of tomorrow, embodying the driving force behind the nation’s development, innovation, and progress.

“Today, as we celebrate International Youth Day, I am filled with immense pride and hope for the future of our nation,” he stated.

As the torchbearers of tomorrow, our young people are the driving force behind our development, innovation, and progress.”

President further noted that his government remains more committed to implementing policies and programmes to empower our youths to take charge of their destinies to live meaningful and dignified lives.

He said through formal education, vocational training and mentorship programmes, they will provide the tools and conducive environment for young people to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

“My Government has matched words with action by appointing one of the youngest and most diversified Cabinet in the history of our country,” he said.

President then urged all young Sierra Leoneans to embrace their potential as agents of positive change. “Your ideas, energy, and passion are the building blocks for a stronger and more resilient nation,” he said.

The president said that together Sierra Leone can tackle the challenges that lie ahead, from climate change to economic disparity, and create a future where every citizen has the opportunity to succeed.

He then called for the nation to uphold the values of tolerance, respect, and inclusivity as we forge ahead towards a brighter tomorrow.
