President Julius Maada Bio is set to co-chair a pivotal roundtable discussion alongside Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, President of the OPEC Fund, at the upcoming OPEC Fund’s 24th Development Forum.

The event is scheduled for Monday, June 24, 2024, and will focus on advancing Sierra Leone’s energy sector and enhancing regulatory frameworks to attract investments.

The roundtable session, which will gather investors and key stakeholders, aims to bolster Sierra Leone’s efforts in renewable energy expansion. It will be moderated by Hon. Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security (PI-CREF). This initiative underscores the country’s commitment to addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development.

Jointly organized with the Republic of Sierra Leone through PI-CREF, the event will feature key presentations on strategic opportunities in renewable energy and agricultural investments. A comprehensive Question-and-Answer session will follow, providing a platform for in-depth discussions and potential collaborations.

Sierra Leone will be represented by a high-level delegation, including Minister of Finance Mr. Sheku A.F. Bangura, Deputy Minister of Energy Dr. Eldred Tunde Taylor, and Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka. Each official will present pivotal projects and initiatives from their respective ministries, highlighting the country’s strategic vision and investment opportunities.

The OPEC Fund’s 24th Development Forum, themed “Collaborate for Impact,” emphasizes the importance of global cooperation in achieving sustainable development goals. By bringing together diverse stakeholders, the forum aims to foster impactful collaborations that drive sustainable progress in Sierra Leone and beyond.
