Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has reaffirmed his commitment to empowering students across the nation.

He made this commitment as the country celebrates six years of the free quality school education programme.

The activity featured a meeting with Mariam Turay, an honors student currently studying Biological Sciences at Fourah Bay College, who previously participated in the launch of the Government’s Free Quality Education initiative.

Reflecting on the past six years since the launch of the Free Quality Education program, President Bio emphasized the initiative’s crucial role in advancing human capital development. “Six years ago, I launched the free quality school education because I believe that human capital investment is the best thing we can do for our nation,” President Bio stated.

He highlighted the significant strides his government has made in this area, positioning Sierra Leone as a global leader in human capital development. “We have made tremendous progress, repositioning Sierra Leone on the global stage as a beacon of human capital development,” he added.

During the meeting, President Bio shared his pride in witnessing the progress of students like Mariam Turay, who have benefited from the educational reforms. “Today, I met Mariam Turay, who was with me for the launch. She is now an honors student in biological sciences at Fourah Bay College,” he said.

President Bio further reiterated his government’s unwavering commitment to empowering all Sierra Leonean students to achieve their full potential. “We will continue to empower not just her but every Sierra Leonean to reach their fullest potential,” he affirmed.
