Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, The Right Honourable Sir Keir Starmer KCB KC MP.

In a statement, President Bio lauded the democratic process that led to Prime Minister Starmer’s election, highlighting it as a testament to the values that both nations share in their commitment to democratic governance.

“As a nation that has traversed the path to democracy and experienced the transformative power of elections, Sierra Leone stands in solidarity with the people of the United Kingdom as they entrust their leadership to Prime Minister Starmer,” President Bio remarked.

The President also expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Rishi Sunak MP, acknowledging his efforts in strengthening the ties between Sierra Leone and the United Kingdom during his tenure.

“Sierra Leone recognises the importance of strong and constructive relationships between nations that are founded on mutual respect, shared values, and a commitment to democracy, development, and global peace,” President Bio stated.

He conveyed confidence that under Prime Minister Starmer’s leadership, the longstanding ties between Sierra Leone and the United Kingdom would continue to flourish.

“I pay tribute to the people of the United Kingdom, whose participation in the electoral process has reaffirmed the strength and resilience of British democracy,” President Bio added.
