During a recent campaign tour, President Bio addressed the people of Mattru Jong, shedding light on his government’s education initiatives and clarifying their promises made in 2018.

While the initial pledge focused on providing free quality education to all children in Sierra Leone, the President emphasized that the provision of supplementary items such as books, bags, and food was not explicitly part of the promise. However, he emphasized that as a compassionate leader, he decided to go above and beyond to ensure that all children have the necessary resources to thrive academically.

In his speech, President Bio reiterated the government’s commitment to offering free quality education for every child in the country, which they have successfully implemented. He acknowledged that certain challenges, such as the lack of educational materials, could hinder students’ progress. Consequently, the government intervened to address these obstacles, demonstrating their dedication to education and the well-being of Sierra Leonean children.

“I want to ensure that every citizen in our great nation receives an education. When we identified the barriers within the educational system, we extended our assistance to parents to help overcome these challenges,” President Bio affirmed.

Recognizing the potential for a brighter future through education, the President emphasized the importance of investing in the nation’s youth to shape a better tomorrow.

The additional support provided by the government, including the provision of books, bags, food, and other necessary items, aims to ensure that no child is held back due to socioeconomic constraints. By offering these supplementary resources, President Bio aims to empower students and equip them with the tools they need to succeed academically.

President Bio’s commitment to education and his willingness to address the needs of Sierra Leonean students reflect his strong belief in the transformative power of education. By fulfilling their promise of free quality education and going beyond their original mandate, the government is taking tangible steps to create a more inclusive and prosperous future for all citizens.
