Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio has inspected the progress of work at the Karlu Hospital in Pujehun District as part of plans for total development of the country’s health sector.
The Minister of Health and Sanitation, Austin Demby said that the hospital when completed will have facilities like X-Ray, surgical theatre, labour/delivery ward, pharmacy, lab and ambulance for 20,000 in riverine communities.
It is also noted that the ministry of health and sanitation together with partners, have landed a significant reduction in maternal deaths from 717 per 100,000 deaths to 443 (UN and World Bank group).
The Minister used the ‘’thank you meeting’’ to set a new target of achieving ZERO preventable maternal death by 2030.
