Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio will today, Monday 30 January 2022 launch the multipurpose biometric identity cards at State House in Freetown.

The multi-purpose biometric identity cards have different categories for different people in the country.

These different categories include National Identity Cards for Sierra Leoneans aged 12 and above, ECOWAS Identity Cards for Sierra Leonean Nationals, ECOWAS Identity Cards for citizens of ECOWAS member states, and Non-National Identity Cards for non-citizens.

After the official launch, all citizens of age 12 and above are expected to have a National Identity Card and all other different categories as it is compulsory.
