In a recent address, President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone expressed his commitment to achieving gender parity in all areas of society.
“We are not about to witness history, we are actually making history together,” he said, calling for collective action to create a more inclusive future.
The President talked about embracing his role as a champion for women’s representation, saying, “I accepted to become a HE for SHE, a champion,” reflecting his dedication to supporting women in nation-building. “I believe through commitment, we can achieve gender parity in all spheres,” he added.
He pointed out the qualities women bring, such as patience, competence, and resilience, which are key to national development. President Bio noted that women’s full participation in shaping the country’s future is necessary.
He concluded by urging continued work to ensure women’s voices are heard and their contributions valued. “Together, we’re building a future where women’s roles are recognized,” President Bio said, stressing the need for gender equality in all sectors of society.
