President Julius Maada Bio has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Dr. Kadi Sesay, describing her as an inspiring leader and a tireless advocate for women’s rights in Sierra Leone.
In a heartfelt message shared on Sunday morning on X, President Bio said he was “heartbroken” by the news of Dr. Sesay’s passing. He recalled her role as his running mate in the 2012 presidential elections and praised her lifelong dedication to public service, education, and gender equality.
“Today, Sierra Leone mourns the loss of a remarkable mother and a steadfast champion for women’s rights. Her legacy will forever live in the hearts of those she touched,” President Bio said.
Dr. Sesay’s death, following a prolonged illness in the United States at age 76, has sparked tributes across the nation, recognising her pioneering contributions to politics, governance, and the advancement of women in public life.
“May her soul find eternal peace. She will be deeply missed,” the President added.
