In a bold move to foster economic growth and support youth-led initiatives, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio has unveiled a series of interventions under the Youth Employment Promotion and Livelihood Empowerment Programmes.

During the event held in Aberdeen, President Bio introduced transformative resources and financial support aimed at empowering rural entrepreneurs and advancing sustainable livelihoods.

The initiatives include:

A fleet of 50 tricycles to facilitate transportation and improve access to markets in rural areas.

Startup grants awarded to 864 aspiring rural entrepreneurs, enabling them to kick-start or expand their businesses.

50 local fishing boats equipped with modern gear, designed to boost productivity and ensure sustainable fishing practices.

Tailored financial support for organizations led by young women, reaffirming the government’s commitment to gender-inclusive development.

President Bio highlighted the significance of these interventions in creating economic opportunities and enhancing self-reliance among Sierra Leone’s youth.

“These investments are not just about resources; they represent our belief in the potential of our young people to drive innovation and build resilient communities,” he remarked.

The President also underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to empowering the nation’s youth, particularly in rural communities, as a strategic pathway to achieving sustainable economic growth.

The event was marked by personal testimonies from beneficiaries of earlier government initiatives, who shared how such programs have transformed their lives and communities.

These stories, President Bio noted, serve as a testament to the life-changing impact of youth-centered policies.
