President Julius Maada Bio addressed the 2024 Sierra Leone Innovates Tech Summit, underscoring the nation’s commitment to technological advancement and digital inclusivity.
The event was held at the Bintumani Conference Hall in Freetown, drawing tech enthusiasts, young entrepreneurs, and industry leaders.
In his statement, he justified his human capital Investment as a means to become competitive in the digital space and Global Job Market.
“To become more competitive in the digital space an global Job market, we saw the need to invest in human capital, to ensure that Our citizens are equipped with the requisite Knowledge and Skills to meet the growing demands of the global digital economy” President stated.
He further Pointed out that they have also invested in integrating technology into the curriculum and providing students with hands-on experience in fields such as software engineering , robotics , and data Science .
The summit witnessed the official launch of the StarLink Internet Service in Sierra Leone, a significant milestone in the country’s digital transformation journey.
During his address, President Bio emphasized the importance of utilizing the newly available internet service for constructive and developmental purposes. “Ladies and gentlemen, today we all witnessed the official launching of the StarLink Internet Service in this summit, which underscores our commitment and our process to enhance in providing every citizen access to the internet and the opportunities available online,” President Bio remarked.
