Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio during the United Nations General Assembly in New York engaged in a dialogue with Joseph Nganga, Vice President for Africa at Energy Alliance.
The discussion brought together prominent Sierra Leonean government officials and a senior delegation from Energy Alliance, centering on the vital reforms underway in the energy sector while acknowledging the President’s forward-thinking vision.
President Bio conveyed his gratitude towards the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAAP) for their renewed commitment to Sierra Leone. He assured all stakeholders that the reform agenda would persist, emphasizing, “Energy is essential for our development, and during challenging times, he was committed to leading the charge.”
He further underscored his choice to appoint Hon. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella to take a leadership role in the Ministry of Energy operations, serving as the chair of the Energy Governance Coordination Group.
Nganga expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, remarking, “With Dr. Yumkella on board, you have a resourceful and dedicated ally. We are eager to partner with him to bring your vision to fruition and ensure the sector thrives.”
