President Dr. Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone today, 7 April 2025, met with Mr. Neale Richmond, Ireland’s Minister of State for International Development and the Diaspora, who is in the country on a brief working visit.

During their meeting at State House, Minister Richmond thanked President Bio for taking the time to meet with him. He shared that his visit was focused on reviewing the work of the Irish Embassy in Sierra Leone and further enhancing the relationship between the two countries.

“I’m pleased to also formally present Sierra Leone’s agreement for the establishment of its embassy in Ireland,” Minister Richmond said.

In his response, President Bio warmly welcomed the minister and spoke about the strong ties between Sierra Leone and Ireland. He noted the positive collaboration between the two nations, particularly in education and women’s empowerment.

The President also highlighted the establishment of Sierra Leone’s embassy in Ireland as an important step in furthering diplomatic ties. He assured Minister Richmond of his government’s continued commitment to working with Ireland and its embassy in Sierra Leone.
