President Julius Maada Bio has named as the American University Global Alumni Leader Award winner for 2023.
“The Global Alumni Leader Award honors alumni whose substantial impacts on society exemplify AU’s tradition of service and leadership in the context of a global community,” the University said.
Bio will receive the award together with Dr. Dambisa Moyo, Member in the British House of Lords. Moyo is also the Baroness of Knightsbridge and has a vast experience in the public sector.
“Thank you American University for this honour. I join the other awardees in commending American University for its legacy of academic excellence. I look forward to the event on May 18, 2023,” President Bio reacted on Twitter hours after the winner was announced by the University.
Other categories of awards include the Neil Kerwin Alumni Achievement Award, Alumni Recognition Award and Alumni Eagle Award.
The American University is Methodist-affiliated institution that was chartered by the US Congress in 1893. It is located in Washington DC but operates a number of schools in and out of the US.
It is ranked as the 72nd best university in the US with over 14,000 students.
“American University alumni are change makers in their communities and leaders in their fields,” the University Alumni said.
