The two-day Emergency Preparedness and Response Planning workshop concluded on Friday, 16th January 2025, at the OIC Hall, Dambala Road, Bo.
The engagement brought together key stakeholders to review and enhance the region’s Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan.
The program began with an opening prayer, followed by statements from representatives of CARE International, the Bo City Mayor’s office, and the District Medical Officer (DMO), represented by the Matron. In their remarks, all speakers emphasized the importance of participant involvement in refining the disaster preparedness framework to improve the region’s emergency response capabilities.
National facilitators presented the existing Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan as a basis for discussion. Participants were divided into three groups to critically analyze the document and provide recommendations for its improvement.
Each group later presented their findings and proposed amendments, engaging in a collaborative discussion to address questions and reach consensus on key issues. This ensured that the revised plan incorporated diverse perspectives and practical solutions.
Described as a milestone in enhancing disaster management in the region, the engagement highlighted the importance of collaboration, proactive planning, and community involvement in mitigating the impact of emergencies.
Stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the revised plan, fostering a safer and more prepared environment for all residents of Bo.
